about founder, Andrew Ballew...
In the spring of 1995, I was a winner of the 'International Piano Scholarship Competition' at University of Tennessee, Knoxville, placing 4th against an international field that had studied their craft as prodigies since they could walk. I decided I wanted to be a concert pianist, finally, at the dumb young age of 16. 'Smart plan', but it somehow worked. The prize was a full tuition and full room and board scholarship to study Piano and performance.
In recent times I have directed liturgical ministries at the largest Church in Knoxville, TN, and was manager of the only TRUE high-end audio store in the Knoxville area.
Between spending time on the high end audio sales floor, I tinkered with CRT projection technology, becoming a highly respected figure and authority on CRT front projection, installing and calibrating many dozens of projectors on behalf of customers. Once the digital projection market became more mature, I also sold and installed numerous home theaters with the then new and exciting High Definition DLP technology. I then turned my attention to the study and building of tube preamplifiers and amplifiers. My custom circuit MM phono preamplifier, based on a tried and true RCA design, is still in prototype stage. Now I spend my time evaluating and measuring entry level to moderate audio kit for my new company "EUPHONIC REVIEW", when I am not playing piano professionally or giving music lessons.
Finding the truly good and truly affordable 'audiophile' equipment is my goal, and bringing news about these products to you from my perspective is what Euphonic Review is all about. Oh... and one more thing. To give it away. Yes, you read that correctly, several occasions each year, our review sample will be GIVEN AWAY to a lucky reader.
